Lilith Fair Lineup and Cities....

Kelly Clarkson, the Bangles, the Go-Go's and Martina McBride have joined the 2010 Lilith tour line-up. Also new to the bill are Courtyard Hounds (Emily Robison and Martie Maguire of the Dixie Chicks), Suzanne Vega, Miranda Lee Richards and others. They join a slew of other female acts already on the bill, including Sheryl Crow, Norah Jones, Loretta Lynn, Mary J. Blige, Colbie Caillat and others.

Venues and concert dates will be announced soon for the summer tour.

Last night a lot of people had a tough time getting back to the Island from the mainland.
B.C. Ferries was posting a two-sailing wait from Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay at 7:30 p.m.

The ferries had been filled to capacity since 3 p.m.

An 8 p.m. sailing was added. The last ferry was to leave Tsawwassen at midnight. By 8:30 p.m., it was already 39 per cent full.

Andrew Koenig who was an actor on the TV series Growing Pains in the 1980s, has gone missing in Vancouver.
He played the character of Richard "Boner" Stabone and was last seen on Valentine's Day.
He was visiting friends in South Vancouver, but never came home.

Ya know, it amazes me that when you put terms like, "Chimp with a video camera" into Google Images, it actually comes up.

I needed a pic like this to accompanies this story because it is indeed about Chimps making movies. I'm pretty sure they've already produced shows such as The Hills and Jersey Shore, but now, they're hitting the big screen.

BBC plans to air its "Chimpcam" documentary this Wednesday.

For 11 months, chimps at the Edinburgh Zoo were given a point-and-shoot Chimpcam and touchscreens to allow them to select videos.

Eventually, the chimps started carrying the Chimpcam around and well, ended up making a film. Move over Avatar!

It is estimated that the damage our city would exceed $430 million in a moderate to severe earthquake.
If you want to make sure you’re prepared chech out the free earthquake-preparedness course, Jan. 27 from 7-9 p.m. at the Oaklands Community Centre.
The courses teaches people how to put together an effective emergency-supply kit, as well as the proper amount of food and water to store for a family.

Double the Police for New Years Eve!

Police in Greater Victoria are gearing up for a busy New Year's Eve by putting more officers on the road.
Double the normal number of cops will patrol Victoria and Saanich streets tomorrow night.
New Year's Eve is the equivalent of a busier-than-usual Saturday night for police, but it's not nearly as bad as large-scale events such as Canada Day.
Traditionally, Victoria police are busy with downtown bars and nightclubs, where hundreds of partiers are allowed to stay out drinking until 3 a.m. -- an hour later than usual.
By comparison, police in Saanich and West Shore generally deal with house parties and late-night restaurants…oh the late night restaurant visit is always bad news. Pretty sure my last visit wnet something like this:
“I want nachos with extra everything, and extra cheese and extra sour cream and salsa, and then I want fries with every dipping sauce you have, and then I want french onion soup, oh and chocolate milk…and…hmm…maybe you should just keep this menu here, I’m still looking…” Oh yeah, and then after like, 2 minutes of placing your order youre like, “What’s taking so long!?” HAhahah!

The Olympic flame has already blazed through the Far North, becoming the first torch relay to come within 817 kilometres of the North Pole by stopping in Alert, Nunavut.
The relay has also made it to North America's easternmost tip at Cape Spear, N.L.
Now the flame has landed in New Brunswick!

Starting today you can now follow the olympic torch all the way from Halifax to Vancouver on the Olympic Torch cam!

This afternoon around 5:30 p.m. ET, the new torch relay webcam will capture Sidney Crosby as he jogs with the Torch in Halifax. Hundreds are expected to line the streets. and thanks to the Torch Cam video, you pretty much can too!

Amy Winehouse wants her own doll. But when I looked online there already was one? It is quite possible that Winehouse is not aware of this...even if she was at the official unvailing of the doll.

Her friend says, “She's been sketching lots of drawings of herself and wants to bring out a doll for fans." …K, you may as well just give your kid a pair of scissors. A Winehouse doll won't lead to anything good…first you give them the doll, next thing you know they’re selling their body for more Winehouse dolls…bad scene.

If you have an exotic pet such as a bat-eared fox, grey-bellied night monkey or side-stripped jackal, you may want to take note: The permit phase for the province’s new regulations governing exotic animals is now underway.

The Controlled Alien Species Regulation, enacted in March, requires the owners of more than 1,200 species of mammals, reptiles and birds not native to B.C. to obtain a permit by April 1, 2010.

Travelling circuses, pet stores and the film industry also will have to obtain permits.

A brand-new killer-whale calf has made its first public appearance off the Victoria waterfront.

The birth is the fifth this year for the three endangered resident killer-whale pods and brings the total number of animals in the pods to 87.

The calf was first spotted on Remembrance Day.

An Australian student sparked fears of a new era of computer viruses today after creating a worm which infects Apple's iconic iPhone with pictures of 1980s pop star Rick Astley.
The kid says he was trying to raise security awareness with his cheeky but harmless "Ikee" worm, which spreads from phone to phone along wireless networks.
The virus swaps the smartphone's wallpaper with an image of Astley and the words "Ikee is never gonna give you up" -- a reference to the British star Astley's 1987 chart-topper: "Never Gonna Give You Up".

Is it weird that I'm some what attracted to him? It's the loafers...they get me everytime...

The Headline in the Times Colonist today read, "Backyard Chicken supporters Pack Saanish Council." Well, of course I was intrigued!

Turns out, about two dozen people of all ages packed into council chambers last night to support the idea of having hens on properties less that 12 thousand square feet. One man wore a headband with chicken feathers in it.

Hens are allowed in Esquimalt, Victoria and Oak Bay.
Coun. Susan Brice, said she's not heard of any complaints that is, "unless someone tried to slip in a rooster."

That report likely won't be voted on for at least a month.

Man, I wish I coulda been a fly on the wall for that one…
